Galiano Gorge
ABOUT
The Galiano Gorge is a small but very beautiful gorge just a stone’s throw from the town of Rethymno.
Its starting point is at the village of Gallou, it stretches for 5.5 kilometres, and it ends in Rethymno.
The gorge carries waters from the area of Armenoi to Koumbes beach.
Along the way, you will come across the church of Saint Anthony, and within the gorge, you can still see ruins of old watermills, such as the Saounatsis watermill.
Caution is needed, as some parts are blocked by wire fences set up by private landowners, and the dense vegetation makes access difficult for walkers.
