“Inner Gaze”: The 1st Abstract Painting Exhibition at the Basilica of St. Mark

A series of thematic exhibitions from the Art Collection of the Heraklion Municipal Gallery is planned for the exhibition space of the Basilica of St. Mark. The aim is to highlight its content but also, primarily, to make the collection accessible to the residents and visitors of the city, to whom it "belongs."

From Wednesday, January 22, until February 22, 2025, the Basilica of St. Mark will host the abstract painting exhibition titled “Inner Gaze”, which includes works donated by artists and the Ministry of Culture. These artworks have not been presented to the public until now.

The exhibition, which is free to the public and will run until February 22, 2025, features works by:
Nikos Viskadourakis (1956), Christina Zervou (1936–1988), Alexandros Isaris (Giannis Demitriadis, 1941–2022), Stavros Ioannou (1945–2009), Maria Kokkinou-Bitsaki (1935–2022), Vasso Kyriaki (1937), Kostas Lefkochir (1952), Foteini Milidaki, Stavros Bonatsos (1945), Aristodimos Papadakis (1933), Giannis Paraskevadis (1939–2004), Aspa Stasinopoulou (1935–2017), Marianna Strapatsaki (1947), Spyridon Tsagarakis, Vasiliki Tsekoura (1947), Thomas Fanourakis (1915–1993), Ilias Charisis (1657), and Michelle Odelin (1952).
