On Sunday, March 23, 2025, the Mountaineering Club of Agios Nikolaos is heading to one of eastern Crete’s most magical trails.

Here’s how they describe the route:
“Our hike will begin at the small forest of Koutsouras, where we’ll drive to with our own cars. From there, we’ll follow the marked trail uphill to the famous waterfalls—at their very best this time of year—and the countryside chapels of Afentis Christos and Agios Dimitrios. We’ll return to the starting point following the same route.”

DISTANCE: 12 km
DURATION: 5–6 hours
DIFFICULTY LEVEL: 1+

DEPARTURE:
From Agios Nikolaos (24 Karamanli Street, at the Vassilopoulos supermarket parking lot) at 8:00 in the morning.
Transportation will be by private cars. Please offer €8 to your driver.
If you plan to go directly, be at the Koutsouras forest by 9:00 at the latest.
