A large crowd gathered for the annual Christmas celebration in the Chania countryside.

The much-anticipated annual Christmas festival, a hallmark event for the Chania countryside, “Christmas at the Foot of the White Mountains,” was held with great success on Sunday, December 15, 2024, in Kampoi Keramion.

The Municipality of Chania, the Local Community of Kampoi, and the Kampoi Cultural Association co-organized a celebration for all ages, filled with activities and surprises!

More than 2,000 visitors of all ages enjoyed the delicacies and beverages offered while participating in unique activities such as:

  • Off-road routes to Prophet Elias near the Volikas refuge, with 4x4 vehicles provided by Uncharted Escapes
  • Archery lessons from the Chania Archery Academy Kris
  • Writing Christmas wishes for the Wish Tree
  • Feeding animals at the Shepherd's Pen
  • Meeting horses, ponies, and PokoPiko the parrot, hosted by Spiros Malaxianakis
  • Exploring the village on a small train
  • A traditional Karagiozis shadow puppet show
  • Lessons and rides with electric mountain bikes from Daring Trails
  • Performances by jugglers and stilt walkers
  • Gifts from Santa Claus
  • A photobooth and face painting
  • A reenactment of the Magi with Gifts and the lighting of the Christmas Tree

The festive program was accompanied by:

  • Music selections by DJ Dimitris Taktikos
  • Cretan music by Nikos Pontikakis and traditional dances by the Chania Folklore Association led by Giannis Agiasmenakis
  • A modern performance by Manos Malaxianakis

The flawless organization and overwhelming participation created an unforgettable Christmas experience for everyone. The event also supported a noble cause, as essentials were collected for the Chania Municipality’s Social Grocery.
