Takis’ Café: For All Hours, in Koxare!

On the provincial road leading from Rethymno to Plakias, in the village of Koxare, just before the entrance to the Kourtaliotiko Gorge, you’ll find Takis’ Café.

Here, you can enjoy your coffee in the morning before setting out on your excursion to the picturesque villages of Agios Vasilios. The café also offers excellent meze, always honoring the traditions of Crete.

Leave your car on the main road and walk 20 meters. You’ll come across a beautiful courtyard where the welcoming owners of the café will greet you.

Have a coffee or another drink of your choice under the shade of the courtyard, or, if you prefer, try grilled meats or casserole dishes.

The café is famous for its boubouristoi chochlioi (fried snails), pork with oregano, and omelette with local greens (xestachia).
