Kissos: With the Stunning Plateau of Yious Kampos

Another reason to visit the municipality of Agios Vasileios. At the foot of Mount Kentros, you’ll find the village of Kissos. Head to the Yious Kampos plateau, where you’ll get "lost" among fields of vibrant red poppies.

The three churches within the village, along with the historic Monastery of the Holy Spirit and the recently renovated chapel of Agia Paraskevi, form a small network of Byzantine and post-Byzantine monuments.

Just below the village square, there’s an old stone fountain, and not far from there, you’ll come across the Vatholakos Forest. In the area around Agia Paraskevi, you can walk among plane trees, kermes oaks, fruit trees, and lush green shrubs.

North of the forest lies the Kissano Gorge, home to the striking Kokkino Deti—a haven for birds of prey like vultures and hawks.
