You’re in Nea Chora, Chania, standing on the beach and looking out to sea. There, you’ll spot a small dot on the horizon—the islet of Lazareta, or Lazareto. This tiny island has a fascinating past, once serving as a quarantine spot for lepers.
Its sandy beach is perfect for snorkeling, offering a glimpse into the underwater world. In past decades, swimming competitions were even held here. Today, Lazareta is also considered an ideal spot for SUP!
