Hike through the Astrakiano Gorge

The gorge boasts lush vegetation.

As the hiker traverses Mesosfini Gorge, they will be accompanied by the abundant waters that flow through the area. This is evident in the presence of mills and aqueducts from different historical periods, which serve as tangible evidence of the region's rich water resources.

Starting from Kato Astraki, a designated trail leads hikers on an adventure through the gorge. After passing the church of Agios Georgios, stone steps guide the way to the enchanting ‘Neraidospilio’ (Fairy Cave). From this point, the journey continues along the stream, where basic infrastructure is in place to assist in crossing challenging sections. As hikers progress, they will catch glimpses of the old Ottoman aqueduct, a historical landmark that stands as a testament to the area's rich heritage.
