Vlatos: The Village and its Park of Peace

Located 54 kilometres from Chania and 19 kilometres from Kastelli Kissamos, Vlatos is perched on a mountain slope adorned with olive trees, chestnut trees, and untamed vegetation. The village boasts captivating hiking trails, providing ideal resting spots for nature enthusiasts within the Park of Peace, recognised as a natural park.

Established in 1970 by the Vlatos Cultural Association in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut and the support of the Bavarian Department of Forests, the Park of Peace serves as an experimental park. Encompassing 1,000,000 square metres, it features 150 plant species and is an integral part of an extensive reforested area spanning 20 square kilometres.
