Platanos Stroll: Embracing Nature

ABOUT

Platanos of Kissamos, a recent settlement, traces its earliest mention back to a 1900 census. Throughout the 20th century, the village saw substantial development, culminating in a population of 975 residents as recorded in the last census of 2011. Platanos is part of the municipality of Kissamos, positioned 11 kilometres from Kastelli, Kissamos and a mere 5 kilometres from Falassarna (or Falasarna).

It earned its name from an ancient plane tree situated at the centre of the charming village square.

The residents of Platanos are primarily involved in agriculture and livestock farming. However, in recent years, a growing number have also ventured into tourism, capitalising on the flourishing tourist activity in the nearby area of Falassarna.

The village is equipped with various infrastructures to cater to the needs of both permanent residents and visitors alike.
