The monument of the inhabitants of Candia who were massacred on 25th August, 1898, stands next to the church of Agios Titos.
Placed in the 1990s, this monument serves to honour the memory of those who perished and to remind all of the renaming of 25th August Street, formerly known as Planis Street, in the wake of these tragic events.
