Mochos Folklore Museum
ABOUT
The Folklore Museum of the village is located in the charming and picturesque square of Mochos.
The museum is situated in a beautiful, stone-built building that showcases architectural features from the 16th century. The initial efforts to establish the museum commenced in 1976 through the initiatives of locals who aimed to spotlight and share with the public elements of the cultural tradition of the area.
The museum is divided into two thematic sections. The ground floor showcases the traditional Cretan house, while the upper floor presents objects related to traditional professions. It is managed by the Cultural Association of Mochos aptly named ‘Proodos’ (Progress) and you can find additional information on the association’s Facebook page.
The tip of Local!
During the winter months, the museum does not have fixed opening hours, so it’s best to contact the administrators beforehand to confirm visiting times.
