Lousakies: Embracing Panoramic Views of the Bay of Kissamos
ABOUT
Lousakies is a quaint village situated atop a hill, offering panoramic views of the bay of Kissamos. Mentioned by Francesco Barozzi in 1577 as Lussachies, it was part of the province of Kissamos.
The village cemetery is home to the Byzantine Church of Agios Polycarpos, Agios Charalambos, and Agios Nikolaos. Featuring cruciform architecture with a central cylindrical dome and a front narthex, the side aisles contribute to its rectangular shape.
Additionally, there are plans to establish a Museum of Cretan Musicians in the former primary school of the village.
