Kirianna: A Modern Village

Within this historic village, one can find a mix of ancient and contemporary churches. Remnants of Renaissance-style architectural elements are still scattered throughout. The Middle Byzantine Church of Panagia stands prominently, constructed in the architectural form of a Greek cross with a dome.

The contemporary agrotourism establishments designed for accommodating visitors provide high-quality holidays with unforgettable experiences.

Adjacent to the Church of Panagia is the community building, which houses the Cultural Association, the Ecclesiastical Museum, as well as the Infirmary and the Community Store.

Lining the central avenue are the Agricultural Cooperative of Kirianna, contemporary grocery stores (supermarkets), cafés, and tavernas positioned at the entrance and exit of the village. Here, visitors can savour traditional recipes and indulge in the local wine.

Kyrianna is accessible by either following the Provincial Road from Rethymno to Arkadi or by taking the regular bus service from Rethymno.
