Center for Cretan Literature
ABOUT
The Center for Cretan Literature (ΚΕ.ΚΡΗ.ΛΟ) was established in 1998 through the initiative of Roussos Emm. Kypriotakis, who was then the mayor of the Municipality of Kazantzakis. As a non-profit organization, its mission is to gather, study, and promote the works of Cretan writers, from the Cretan Renaissance to the present day.
Located in the village of Varvaroi (Myrtia), the birthplace of Nikos Kazantzakis, the Center organizes conferences and seminars across Crete's regional units, showcasing the island’s literary contributions. Through these events, the Center plays a vital role in celebrating and promoting Cretan intellectual and literary heritage.
For more information, you can visit the Center’s official site at KEKRILO.
