During your South Crete Safari adventure, you'll be transported to the summit of the Rouvas Plateau, where your first stop will be an exploration of the serene forest in the vicinity. From there, you'll commence a descent into the 5 km long gorge, immersing yourself in the distinctive ecosystem boasting abundant flora and fauna, captivating geological formations, and rocks of exceptional Cretan charm.
As you journey through the gorge, you'll traverse wooden bridges, descend steep stone stairs, and navigate along cliffs. You'll also cross streams known for having the ‘best water in the world’ until you arrive at the stunning man-made lake of Zaros.
After your meal, enjoy a stroll by the lake and observe the turtles, fish, geese, and ducks that inhabit the area.
Following your lunch, the jeeps will be ready to resume the safari, taking you up the mountain to the Agios Efthimios Church, a remarkable cave church constructed on the mountainside. From this vantage point, you'll enjoy panoramic views of the gorge, providing an excellent opportunity to capture stunning photographs.
