The art exhibition by Agapi Christidi, titled "Colours of Imagination", will open at the gallery of the Heraklion Municipal Art Gallery’s Cultural Venue on Tuesday, April 1st, 2025.
The twenty-eight paintings on display include portraits expressing a range of human emotions, landscapes and characteristic Cretan locations, iconography, and works with ecological themes. Like all artistic creations, these pieces aim to spark ideological and social reflection.
The artist used oil paints, acrylics, pastels, and mixed media. Beyond brushes and palette knives, some landscape works were painted exclusively using cotton, offering a more vivid representation of nature. In two of the paintings, recycled materials were incorporated, including aluminium soda cans and old vehicle tires.
Agapi Christidi was born in Athens and has lived and worked in Heraklion since 1990. She began painting in 1980, focusing mainly on portraits in oil and pastel. She is self-taught, and this is her second solo exhibition.
