Kalypso Beach or Pirate Fjord
ABOUT
The Pirate Fjord, also known as Calypso Beach, is situated to the south of Rethymno, within a secluded cove at Cape Karavos, near Plakias.
This oblong bay is nestled among vertical rocks and features a small sandy beach. The exceptional landscape attracts numerous visitors who come not only to swim but also to capture photographs of this remarkable location.
The name ‘Pirate Fjord’ originates from the historical belief that pirates sought refuge in this location. Today, however, the beach is situated within the Kalypso Hotel complex and offers sunbeds, as well as walkways for enjoying the coastal scenery.
There is a diving school, pedal boats, and various other water sports activities available on the beach.
