Apanemo: A Traditional Grill Taverna in Plakias
ABOUT
In a small cove nestled among the rocks, you’ll find Apanemo, the last little taverna in Plakias. This is a true butcher’s taverna, offering a concise menu of about 15 starters and grilled meats, like lamb chops and pork steaks. You’ll also find a few fish options, such as sardines and anchovies.
Apanemo is a local favorite because everything here is grilled over charcoal—not on a griddle—even the bread, which is a must-try, especially the garlic bread. The flavors are simple and authentic, with no unnecessary garnishes, and all ingredients are sourced from local butchers and producers.
Founded in 1989 by Giorgos and Vangelio Daskalakis, the taverna is now in the capable hands of their son Stelios and his wife, Maria.
Sit beneath the mulberry and grapevine-covered terrace and enjoy the view of the sea.
The tip of Local!
Pair your meal with a visit to the Preveli Monastery, the palm forest, Kourtaliotiko Gorge, or, if you prefer, the beaches of Rodakino or Souda.
