Faneromeni Dam
ABOUT
The settlements of Laloumas, Skourvoula, Galia and Faneromeni are situated at short distances from and around the dam. These are traditional villages, where one can enjoy fine meze in the tavernas and coffee houses.
On the eastern side of the basin of Faneromeni Dam is the three hundred-year old arch stone bridge, which was built during the Turkish occupation for military purposes. The bridge was built exactly where the Khalefeh and Koutsoulitis rivers meet.
There is a water mill near the bridge, known as The Mill of Marino.
Lake Faneromeni has become a wetland where migratory birds such as cormorants and bald eagles find refuge. It is, therefore, an ideal place for bird watchers to visit.
