Exploring Potamies' Unique Trails

Potamies is a village that is well worth exploring on foot. It exudes authentic Cretan charm and is one of the first villages you encounter when travelling from the coastal tourist resort of Limani Hersonissos towards the mainland and the enchanting Lassithi Plateau.

Certain parts of the area have been designated for the establishment of a golf club and a water amusement park, providing additional recreational options for visitors.

The village is situated on the right bank of the Aposelemis River, meandering through Lagada amidst olive groves and the untamed flora of the river.

A visit to the Monastery of Panagia Gouverniotissa is highly recommended.

Towards the eastern side of the settlement, at Xerokamares, one can observe the grand remains of the ancient Aqueduct in the area.
