Agios Thomas: A Village Perched on Steep Cliffs

The area boasts numerous intricately carved caves, cisterns, wine presses, and ancient tombs. The Church of Kera Spiliotissa is situated between Agios Thomas and the settlement of Ardachthia. There are several noteworthy churches worth exploring, including the eponymous church, the chapel of Panagia Kardiotissa, the church of Kera Melissani, Agia Paraskevi, and the Holy Spirit in the ruins of the village of Axenti.

The village of Ardachthia faced abandonment due to landslides, prompting its reconstruction as a district within Agios Thomas, situated in Plaka.

The village gets its name from the ancient three-aisled basilica with a dome, a church that stands in the middle of the village. The church still retains remnants of frescoes.

Agios Thomas is where the Preacher Chaeretis Kalamaras and the esteemed doctor and fighter Logios were born.
