Start with Meronas, a village with a deep love for music. Every August, music lovers gather here for the Musical School, an event that celebrates Cretan music and attracts both locals and visitors. But Meronas is a delight year-round, with its scenic alleys and views.

Don’t miss a visit to the Holy Monastery of Asomaton, a monastery with Byzantine roots connected to a noble family. Recently reestablished, the monastery is undergoing restoration, thanks to the local diocese and the archaeological service, bringing this historical monument back to life.

Just a 10-minute drive from Meronas brings you to Vizari, another village where Cretan traditions thrive. In Vizari, keep an eye out for a unique sundial with Latin numerals and the house of Pavlos Vlastos, a preserved piece of local heritage.

Feeling hungry? Head to Strofi tis Gevsis ("The Turn of Taste"), where you’ll feel right at home.

Indulge in lamb with avgolemono sauce, traditional tsigariasto, snails boubouristi, and of course, cheese and honey pies made with local ingredients from the owners’ own production.
