ABOUT
The 18-kilometre route from Prina to Meseleri (Meseleroi) and Vasiliki is a smooth asphalt path, making it ideal for cycling.
The E4 trail originating from the village traverses the pine-clad slopes of Prina and Meseleri. This path consists entirely of unpaved roads, making it an excellent option for cycling in Crete. The E4 trail is easily identifiable with its yellow and black markings. After covering a distance of 3.5 kilometres, you'll arrive at the village of Meseleri.
The name ‘Meseleri’ is rooted in its rich ancient history, as it is situated between the ancient city of Oleros and the temple of Athena Oleria. It is believed that the temple was located in the vicinity of the Monastery of Panagia Vryomeni. Following the church visit, you can continue along the E4 path, which ascends via an unpaved road, leading you to the Monastery of Panagia.
Continuing eastward from there, we make our way to Metochi Assari, a site adorned with ancient religious paintings and devoted to Agios Georgios. Along a picturesque route, we conclude our journey in the village of Vasiliki, located on the isthmus of Ierapetra. Just a short distance outside the village, you'll come across the Minoan antiquities of Vasiliki.
From this location, Ierapetra is situated to the south, and to the north, you'll discover Pachia Ammos Beach. In Pachia Ammos, just 2.5 kilometres away, there are apartments available for accommodation.
