Kritsa Gorge is a stunning natural wonder, especially in its second half. According to the Mountaineering Club of Heraklion, the gorge starts off narrow and imposing. As it widens, you reach a branching point where you can either take the left path and continue along the winding riverbed.
The gorge gradually narrows again, and the tree cover becomes denser, allowing you to walk in the shade. After passing through the cypress forest, the gorge exits at Astividopo. This trail is best suited for experienced hikers with good physical condition, some off-path trekking experience, and comfort navigating rocky terrain.
