St Nicholas Square in Ν. Alikarnasso

Agios Nikolaos Square is situated in the area of Nea Alikarnasso, approximately 3 kilometres from Heraklion.
The church was constructed in the 1920s by residents of Alikarnasso who were refugees from Asia Minor.
The church, dedicated to the patron saint of sailors, was initially inaugurated in 1954.
The paved square hosts a range of events including theatrical performances, puppet shows, film screenings, concerts, choirs, workshops, exhibitions, bazaars, dance performances, and speeches.
Tavernas and shops surround the square.
