Kato Vrisi, Fourfouras
ABOUT
Looking for a taste of tradition? Fourfouras, in the Municipality of Amari, is just the place for you!
In the western part of the village, you’ll find the traditional fountain, recently restored with funding from the European Union. On the face of the fountain, you can see a relief inscription dated 1892, while at its base, there is a row of troughs that were once used for washing clothes or watering animals.
According to tradition, the village was relocated from its original location, Kalota, at a higher elevation, to the area around Kato Vrisi, in today’s Katochori, where a spring exists. This location provided easy access to drinking water and was less visible from the coastline, offering better protection from the Saracens.
