Archaeological Museum of Agios Nikolaos
ABOUT
The Archaeological Museum of Agios Nikolaos houses a collection of highly significant archaeological discoveries from the extensive eastern region of Crete, spanning from Malia to the remote Zakros.
One of the most remarkable museums in Crete, it has been open since 1969.
The findings are exhibited in chronological order from the Neolithic period (5700 – 2800 BC) to the end of the Roman period (100 BC – 400 AD). Its showcases include more than 1,500 vases from the 3rd millennium BC, as well as gold and bronze artefacts (the oldest in Crete).
