The Holy Metropolis of Petra and Herronissos, located in the esteemed historical capital of the Prefecture of Lassithi, Neapoli, originated from the recent amalgamation of the provinces of the Diocese of Herronissos, defunct since 1900, and the Metropolis of Petra, with the exception of the province of Viannos.
