Dusky Shark
Where Can We Find It? Is It Dangerous?

The dusky shark (Carcharhinus plumbeus) is a cartilaginous fish that can grow up to 2.5 meters in length and live for more than 30 years.
It is a common species in the Mediterranean, usually found at depths of less than 100 meters. However, during its seasonal migrations, it is capable of diving to an astonishing 1,800 meters. It prefers to stay near reefs, where it can hunt its preferred prey—fish, mollusks, and crustaceans.
It is not considered dangerous to humans—after all, very few sharks truly deserve that reputation. However, it is well-known for its unpredictable nature.
An exceptional predator, the dusky shark relies on its six highly developed senses to track down prey. It rarely misses a meal—an ability that is crucial, as sharks do not eat daily and often endure long periods without food.
