Diving in Sitia
ABOUT
The sea of Sitia is not only perfect for sunbathing, but it also has the power to captivate you even beneath the surface.
Experience the extraordinary thrill of diving day or night along the coast of Sitia beach. Explore the fascinating depths and visit the sunken wreck of Volkano, a ship resting at a depth of 6.5-10 metres.
The cargo ship Volkano, which was transporting cement, sank in the bay of Sitia around 1980. Fortunately, the crew were rescued and received assistance from the locals, who provided them with clothes and food. The ship remained partially submerged for several years until it was eventually cut in half for safety reasons as it attracted young divers.
