Alekos Cretan Cuisine: Where the Hosts Truly Feed You!
ABOUT
Back in 1926, everything was different, but one thing remains unchanged: the taste! The tavern was founded by Iosif Frangiadakis, passed down to his son Alekos, and since 1993, Alekos Cretan Cuisine in Armenoi, Rethymno, has been run by the third generation, Sifis Frangiadakis.
Just 8 km from Rethymno and about 22 km from the stunning beaches of the South, like Plakias and Preveli, you'll find this gem in the central square of Armenoi village. As you approach, you might feel as though an elderly Cretan lady will pull out a chair for you, urging, "My dear, sit down and eat!"
In winter, try the pork with sautéed greens and chestnut potatoes. During summer, the tavern’s famous snails, zucchini blossoms, and pork with bulbs are perfect choices.
Alekos Cretan Cuisine is a true gastronomic destination, offering dishes prepared just as Cretans cook them in their own homes!
The tip of Local!
In addition to a private parking area, there’s ample parking in the village square, and the tavern also provides an accessible restroom.
