Ziros: Uncovering a Rich History
ABOUT
Ziros is situated at an altitude of 590 metres on the southern foothills of the Egremnos Hill, at the north-western edge of the Plateau of Armenochandrades or Ziros Plateau.
The fertile plateau is home to the cultivation of olives and vines. While Ziros holds a rich archaeological reserve, no systematic excavation has been conducted.
The village is equally stunning as the others, and it also boasts a petrol station and a bank.
From Ziros, the road descends towards the captivating beaches of Xerokampos.
From there, a narrow and winding road with numerous twists and turns begins, taking you close to the deserted villages of Chametoulo and Lamnoni before ultimately leading to the alluring beaches of Xerokampos.
The journey is undeniably spectacular, taking you through rugged and barren mountains, with a view of the turquoise waters of Mazida, the small Kavala islands, and in the distance, the unique sight of Koufonisi.
