This small yet extraordinary gorge is truly miraculous.
The Pefki Gorge showcases incredible rock formations shaped by the forces of nature. By following it from the village of Pefki, after approximately a three-hour hike, you will reach the stunning beach of Makris Gialos.
Considered one of the most exquisite small gorges in Crete, it showcases impressive formations and lush vegetation. The gorge begins south of the village of Pefki and concludes slightly north of the area of Aspros Potamos in Makris Gialos. Spanning approximately 2.0 km in length, it boasts an altitude difference of around 300 metres from its entrance to exit. A well-established path closely follows the gorge's bed for most of its length.
