Paidochori: Magnificent Views of the White Mountains
ABOUT
Situated at the southern end of the Kiliaris valley, nestled between two small gorges—Skotini to the south (between Pemonia and Paidochori) and Machera to the north—is the village of Paidochori.
Under Venetian rule, a watermill was erected on the easternmost tributary of Kiliaris (ceasing operations in 1880). Additionally, the church of Agia Aikaterini was constructed during this period, and modifications were made to the church of Panagia, which is believed to have originated from the second Byzantine era.
A structure from the Venetian period, along with the two Byzantine churches in Paidochori, Panagia, and Agia Aikaterini, both erected during the Venetian occupation, serve as evidence that the area has been inhabited since that time.
