Myrtos Bridge
ABOUT
Myrtos Bridge has been characterised as a work of art.
It is the bridge over Kryopotamos River north of Myrtos on the road to Mournies. (The river dries out in the summer.)
It is an arch bridge made of stone. A built-in inscription indicates that it was built in 1884. It consists of three large arches made of carved rectangular stones.
The two middle ‘legs’ are reinforced by small supports which are triangular on the north side and circular on the south.
On the upper surface of the bridge – the part that is meant to be crossed - the old cobblestones are still visible in many places, while the parapet walls on its sides are very low.
