Holy Church of Agia Paraskevi (Asomathianos Kampos)
ABOUT
The Amari plain is home to many churches worth discovering.
The cruciform domed Church of Agia Paraskevi is located north of the Monastery of Asomaton. It was largely reconstructed in the 19th century.
In the northern arm of the cross, which has been preserved from the original church, there is an embedded tomb in the form of an arcosolium. On the tympanum, Christ Pantocrator is depicted in an oversized scale, while below, in a smaller scale, two pairs of donors can be seen.
On the left, the figures are identified as Georgios Chortatzis and his wife. The built sarcophagus features a hunting scene on its façade.
