Gius Kampos Plateau: A Splendid and Protected Gem
ABOUT
The Plateau of Gius Kampos is situated to the northwest of Mt Kedros, at an elevation of 750 metres, along the route linking Spili to Gerakari. ‘Gius Kampos’ means ‘plateau of the Eo’, the goddess of dawn.
It is a modest yet remarkably picturesque plateau of immense ecological significance, having received protected status. Each spring, the plateau becomes a vibrant sea of thousands of bright red endemic tulips, along with numerous rare, endemic orchid species.
Indeed, in Agios Ioannis, there exists a spring with refreshing water and majestic plane trees. The landscape's charm, particularly in late March and throughout April, is truly astounding.
