Folklore Museum of St George of Lasithi (Agios Georgios Lasithiou)

The Culture and Folklore Association of Lasithi Plateau founded a Folklore Museum in the village of Agios Georgios in Lasithi. 

Recently, its operation has come under the responsibility of the Municipality of Lassithi Plateau.

The museum is housed in an old, early 20th century house. It’s permanent exhibition consists of materials and objects donated by the residents in the early 1980s, when the museum was first inaugurated in an old, 20th century primary school . The museum also houses the collection of the politician Eleftherios Venizelos and includes two new buildings that display modern material objects, wood carvings by Vassilis Krasanakis, old books, handicrafts, weapons, and various other modern objects, not to mention, a painting exhibition.
