Elafonisi: Beyond Greece's Borders, a Beach of Renown
ABOUT
Elafonisi is an exotic landscape that feels like an island, with its white sand touched by pink hues and crystal-clear waters.
Though it feels like a remote island, Elafonisi is actually connected to the mainland of Crete. You can wade through the shallow waters that separate it from the coast. It’s a protected nature reserve, designated as a Natura 2000 area due to its exceptional natural beauty, along with the nearby shores.
Just one kilometre from the enchanting Kedrodasos forest, Elafonisi is about a 90-minute drive from Chania. You can reach it by car or bus, but be prepared for a winding road.
Once you arrive, you'll walk for about 30 minutes along a dirt path. Before reaching the beach, you’ll pass shops selling beach gear, a supermarket, a café, and a taverna where you can stock up on supplies. There’s also parking available, ensuring your car is safe while you enjoy your time in this stunning location.
