Agios Georgios: A Recent Addition to the Lassithi Plateau
ABOUT
The residents of Agios Georgios have adapted their area for tourism, offering accommodation choices for visitors to enjoy and explore the enchanting splendour of the plateau.
Within the vicinity of Agios Georgios, you'll find the Limnakaro Plateau, situated at an elevation of 1,120 metres. From this plateau, one can embark on a journey to the summit of Spathi (also known as Entichtis) at 2,148 metres, which stands as the highest peak in the Dikti range. Alternatively, you can opt for the southern path leading to the Afentis Christos peak at 2,141 metres, the second highest point in the Lassithi mountains.
Guidance to all these locations is available by following the route of the E4 European Path, which traverses Crete from Kastelli, Kissamos in the west, passes through Agios Georgios, and concludes in Kato Zakros to the east.
