It was an event celebrating both sports and culture!
On Sunday 7th April 2024, the 'Run Greece-Heraklion 2024' races were held outside the Pankritio Stadium.
Registrations surpassed 3,500, and every athlete relished each kilometre of the route!
The races were organised by the Association of Greek Gymnastics and Sports Clubs, and the Association of Greek Gymnastics and Sports Clubs Crete with co-organisers being the Region of Crete and the Municipality of Heraklion.
Winners
In the 10-kilometre races, the first woman to finish was Emily Protogeraki, followed by the Italian Carolina Salasa in second place and Irini Fournaraki in third. In the men's 10-kilometre race, Yiannis Papaleonidas finished first, followed by Manolis Sifakis in second place and Yiannis Lavrentakis in third.
In the 5-kilometre races, Alexandra Smyrnaki finished first among women, followed by Anna Kendrianki in second place and Emanuela Lavrentaki in third. In the men's 5-kilometre race, Petros Kuroupakis finished first, followed by Nikos Vlachos in second place and Klajdi Beqiri, of Albanian descent, in third.
