This event brings together athletes from around the globe!

It combines the stunning scenery of Crete with the thrill of skiing in the mountains!

The 6th Pierra Creta event, which took place in March 2024, was held at the base of Mt Psiloritis.

The race began in Lakkos Mygerou, accompanied by the melodic tunes of the Cretan lyre and traditional dances performed by locals dressed in traditional attire.

In 2024, the race drew 110 athletes from 14 countries, including 85 participants from Greece.

At the same time, the 3rd children's ski race for youngsters from Crete and across Greece unfolded, alongside the team race of the 32nd Panhellenic Championship, which saw the involvement of 17 athletes. The races concluded with a celebratory feast and a shared commitment to reconvene on Psiloritis for the 7th Pierra Creta in March 2026.

The race was organised by the Civil Non-Profit Company ‘The Black Sheep’, in collaboration with the Region of Crete and the municipalities of Anogia and Mylopotamos. It received support from the Greek National Tourism Organisation and was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, the Greek National Tourism Organisation, and the Hellenic Federation of Mountaineering and Climbing.

The event received active support from volunteers representing the Mountaineering Clubs of Chania, Rethymno, Heraklion, Mires, and Lassithi. Additionally, the invaluable support of the municipal districts of Zoniana and Livadia, as well as the cultural associations of Anogia, Zoniana, and Livadia, played a crucial role. The presence and assistance of the Special Disaster Response Unit and the Red Cross were also instrumental in ensuring the success of the race. Furthermore, the event was held with the support of the Psiloritis Natural Park.

The 2024 event also received support from the Association of Greek Mountain Guides, aiming to undertake initiatives promoting ski mountaineering, education, and safety on the mountain.
