Sellia: The Village with Stunning Views of the Libyan Sea
ABOUT
Nestled on the slopes of two hills, just a stone’s throw from the Kotsifou Gorge, Sellia is a mountain village steeped in history, with a population of fewer than 500 residents. Located about 35 km from Rethymno, the village offers breathtaking views of Plakias and the Libyan Sea.
Sellia is proud of its revolutionary history—locals boast that the village was never conquered by the Turks. The village is home to several tavernas with excellent food and stunning views, as well as around 15 churches, including the Church of Saint Fotis. Be sure to try the renowned local feta cheese!
