Kendri: A Hub of Pottery
ABOUT
Nestled amidst the Ierapetra plain lies the picturesque village of Kendri, counted among the top four pottery hubs in Crete over the past century.
While visitors may not witness potters at work today, as many villagers are now farmers tending to their greenhouses, the village's ambiance remains enchanting.
The narrow alleyways and the small square in Kendri, with its cafés, will steal your heart!
If you're fortunate, you may stumble upon the festivals of Agia Triada or Agia Paraskevi, while the significance of the Agios Demetrios Church adds to the village's allure. Nearby, until the early 20th century, Kendri served as a refuge for lepers from the Lassithi Prefecture before their relocation to Spinalonga.
