Contemporary Art Museum of Crete
ABOUT
The Museum of Contemporary Art of Crete, boasting modern standards, spans approximately 1000 square metres.
The permanent collection comprises about 700 works, showcasing the artistic legacy of Rethymno artist Lefteris Kanakakis, along with pieces by contemporary Greek artists. This collection spans a broad spectrum of Greek artistic expression from 1950 to the present day.
The museum, situated at 32 Messolongiou Street, periodically showcases a selection of works from its Permanent Collection in its central gallery. Additionally, it hosts temporary exhibitions of both national and international significance in various halls of the building or in alternative venues, including structures of particular cultural significance.
At the same time, it engages in programmes and partnerships with similar organisations in Greece and abroad.
