Agios Nikolaos: an International Cosmopolitan Resort

The lake is the city's most beautiful attraction, with its stunning red rock and tree-lined surroundings drawing visitors in. Legend has it that Athena and Artemis used to bathe in its waters. The lake is connected to the sea by a narrow channel. 

Going for a walk around the shops in Agios Nikolaos is always enjoyable. Visitors can find a variety of carefully crafted traditional Cretan art items, replicas of objects from various archaeological museums, and embroidered jewellery, among other things. There are also chic cafés, traditional quaint coffee houses, and small mezze houses for the locals to sip their raki.

There are many options for entertainment in Agios Nikolaos, including numerous bars and nightclubs, an outdoor cinema called Christina covered in ivy, and cultural centres that host authentic Cretan festivities.
