Simos Taverna: "I Don’t Have a Sign, My Sign Is in My Heart!"
ABOUT
Once a chef in Belgium, Simeon (Simos Zervakis) decided in 2010 to return to his roots and open Simos Taverna in Xeniako, a small village in Viannos, with stunning views of the snow-capped mountains! Simos believes that every dish should have substance, with all ingredients sourced from his own gardens. He heads up the mountain, returning with a car full of green beans, okra, wild greens, mushrooms, eggplants...
His true passion is cooking hearty stews, but we also highly recommend trying his tsigariasto made from wild goat. Don’t forget to order chochlious (snails) and dolmadakia (stuffed grape leaves)! The taverna changes its offerings with the seasons, reflecting the freshest local products available.
Simos Taverna is a popular stop for hikers exploring Xerofarango, Eligia Gorge, Ergano Gorge, Psaro Nero, or those heading to Psari Forada or Detis Beach for a swim or river trekking in Sarakina Gorge.
The tip of Local!
Don’t bother looking for a sign—you won’t find one. As Simos himself says, "I don’t have a sign, my sign is in my heart!" In winter, it’s a good idea to call ahead as it may be closed on certain days.
