Nestled on the southwestern slopes of Mount Psiloritis at an elevation of 500 meters, Nithavri is a thriving village with about 400 inhabitants. Known for its exceptional dairy products, the village is surrounded by the serene beauty of the Amari Valley, with views that stretch all the way to the Libyan Sea.
This amphitheatrically built village has a lively atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy local delicacies in cozy tavernas, sip coffee in traditional cafés, and browse small shops offering regional goods. At the heart of Nithavri lies its charming main square, adorned with a beautiful stone fountain built at the base of a rock in the early 20th century. Its flowing waters create a tranquil setting that invites you to pause and take in the village's essence.
Nature enthusiasts will appreciate the ancient cave of Onymarchos, located northeast of the village at an altitude of 700 meters in the area of Kalikas. This fascinating site adds a touch of mystique to Nithavri's cultural and natural allure.
Every year on August 6th, the village comes alive with celebrations for the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Saviour, marked by a traditional festival that draws locals and visitors alike.
