Cape Spatha: Exploring the Northernmost Tip of Crete
ABOUT
Cape Spatha, also known as Cape Spada or Cape of Peace, is a remarkable area of natural beauty located at the north-western tip of Crete. It extends approximately 25 kilometres into the Cretan Sea, and its name derives from its resemblance to a sword.
The area is characterised by its wild natural beauty, featuring a rugged landscape consisting mostly of mountains with a few small lowland areas. Due to the limited road network, the region has remained relatively untouched. To access the area, it is recommended to use a 4WD or any other high-clearance vehicle from the village of Rodopou, situated at the base of Akrotiri (the cape).
